## Three commands from a fix to your users.

1. ### Add Shorebird

   Run it in your Flutter project. Your Dart code doesn’t change.

   `$ shorebird init`

2. ### Release

   Build your release with Shorebird and publish it to the stores the way you do today.

   `$ shorebird release android`

3. ### Patch

   Change any Dart code and patch. Apps download it in the background when they launch and run it from the next launch.

   `$ shorebird patch android`

`release` and `patch` also take `ios`, `macos`, `windows` and `linux`.

## Update any part of your app written in Dart.

Anything in Dart ships as a patch. Native code and asset changes go out in a new app version, and the CLI warns you when a patch includes one.

Ships as a patch

* Bug fixes and business logic
* Screens, layouts and copy
* Dart packages, added or removed
* Backend endpoints and configuration

Needs a new app version

* Native code, including a plugin’s native code
* Build files such as build.gradle or Podfile
* App permissions
* Images, fonts and other assets in pubspec.yaml

## Ship a patch with the same care as a release.

* Stage it on a track

  Test a patch on staging, beta or any track you name before it reaches everyone.

* Watch it land

  Mission Control shows the rollout, patch coverage and adoption live. [Meet Mission Control](/blog/introducing-mission-control)

* Roll back from the console

  If anything looks wrong, take the patch back.

* Automatic fallback

  A patch that fails to load falls back to the last version that worked.

* Only your patches run

  New releases are signed by default, so your app runs only patches signed for it.

* Within store guidelines

  Designed for App Store and Google Play compliance. [Store FAQ](https://docs.shorebird.dev/code-push/faq/#store-compliance)
