Say Hello to Abhishek Doshi, Shorebird's DevRel Engineer
Hi, I’m Abhishek, and I’m incredibly excited to officially step into the role of Developer Relations Engineer here at Shorebird.
My journey with Flutter isn’t just a line on a resume; it’s been a defining part of my career since 2018. When I first discovered the framework, I fell in love with how it empowered people to bring their ideas to life across screens. Over the years, I’ve worn a lot of hats, from building products from the ground up, to speaking at summits, to serving as a Google Developer Expert for Dart, Flutter and Firebase.
But through all of those experiences, the underlying thread has always been the people. Technology is fascinating, but the real magic happens when you see who is using it and what they are building. For the past four months, I’ve had the privilege of working alongside Dawn and the rest of the Shorebird team as a Strategic Developer Relations Advisor.Experiencing the culture, the transparency, and the sheer talent of this team firsthand made the decision to join full-time the easiest one of my career.
Why Shorebird
If you have ever shipped a mobile app, you know the gut-wrenching anxiety of the "Submit for Review" button.
I’ve been there. You push an update, realize there is a critical logic bug or a small UI issue, and suddenly you are paralyzed. Your users are experiencing a broken app, and you are entirely at the mercy of a three-day store review queue, completely unable to help them. It is one of the most helpless feelings a developer can experience.
Shorebird is solving this fundamental emotional and technical pain point. Code push and over-the-air (OTA) updates are nothing short of revolutionary for Flutter teams. It gives developers their autonomy back. It means you can stop waiting, stop stressing, and actually deploy on your own schedule.
But beyond the product itself, it was the way Shorebird builds that sold me. This team builds in the open. They don't hide behind corporate jargon; they are in the Discord, talking directly to developers, celebrating their wins, and transparently fixing their issues. That level of authenticity is rare, and it is exactly the kind of environment I want to be a part of.
Why Shorebird needs Developer Relations
The response to Shorebird has been incredible, and the traction we’ve seen has been nothing short of inspiring. But with that rapid growth comes a new set of responsibilities. As more indie developers and massive enterprise teams adopt code push, the complexity of supporting that ecosystem naturally increases.
You can't just release a revolutionary tool and expect it to thrive without tending to the community around it. As Shorebird expands its footprint and furthers its path into enterprise environments, teams need robust support, guidance on architecture, and seamless onboarding.
That is exactly why Shorebird is bringing on a dedicated Developer Relations role. We want to ensure that as our technology scales, our support for the community scales right alongside it. DevRel here acts as the connective tissue between the people building the tool and the people using it in production. It’s about ensuring that whether you are a solo dev or an enterprise team, you feel heard, supported, and confident in your tooling. We absorb the friction so the core engineers can focus on building a phenomenal product, and developers can focus on shipping theirs.
What’s next
My immediate focus is going to be on the human experience of adopting Shorebird.
Whether you are an indie dev hacking away on a weekend project or an enterprise team migrating a massive, complex architecture, I want your experience with Shorebird to feel effortless. I will be diving deep into our onboarding flows, removing friction, and restructuring our documentation to make it as clean and intuitive as possible.
You’ll also see me hanging out in our Discord, answering questions, and gathering your feedback. I want to know what you are building. I want to know what is frustrating you. I want to know how we can give you more time back in your day to focus on the features you actually care about and some time to touch the grass as well!
If you want to talk about Flutter architecture, deployment strategies, or just want to nerd out about the ecosystem, my door is always open. Let’s build something beautiful together. Catch you in the community! Feel free to connect with me!
